Fractional SEO Account Manager (2.5 days per week)
MGX.Digital is a growing, independent SEO consultancy working with a small number of high-quality clients on long-term retainers. We’re looking for an experienced SEO Account Manager who can own SEO delivery end-to-end for a subset of our clients.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role with responsibility for both delivery and outcomes. You will personally carry out core SEO work while also owning priorities, quality, and communication. This role suits someone who enjoys being close to the work, making judgement calls, and being trusted to run accounts without micromanagement.
The Role
This role sits at the heart of client delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring SEO work is planned well, executed properly, clearly communicated, and aligned with commercial outcomes.
You’ll work closely with:
- The Founder (overall strategy and escalation)
- Delivery lead (QA and delivery alignment)
- Our SEO PM / exec (uploads & coordination)
- Copywriter & developers
This is a fractional role (2.5 days per week) to start. We expect this to be worked across set, agreed days each week (e.g. Tues–Thurs), to support smoother collaboration and feedback loops. Exact days will be agreed together.
We’re open to hearing from candidates who may be looking for a future full-time role, but the immediate need is for someone who is comfortable working fractionally and owning delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities – SEO Delivery Ownership
You will own SEO delivery for a small number of client accounts, combining hands-on execution with day-to-day decision-making and client communication.
This includes:
- Planning and prioritising SEO activity month to month based on opportunity, impact and client goals
- Carrying out core SEO work such as keyword research, search intent analysis, competitor research and on-page optimisation
- Running technical SEO checks and crawls (indexing, site health, migrations, schema, performance) and translating findings into clear actions
- Creating clear content briefs, reviewing SEO-led content, and ensuring recommendations are implemented correctly
- Producing monthly SEO reports with meaningful commentary, insights and next steps
- Acting as the primary point of contact for SEO delivery, explaining progress, trade-offs and recommendations to clients
- Working with developers on technical SEO requirements and migration-related tasks
- Reviewing and QA’ing SEO work before it reaches clients
- Flagging risks, blockers or scope issues early and proposing solutions
You won’t be expected to do everything yourself (uploads and some execution support exist), but you are accountable for ensuring SEO work is prioritised correctly, delivered to a high standard, and clearly communicated.
What This Role Is (and Isn’t)
This role IS:
- Client-facing
- Hands-on with execution
- Responsible for outcomes, not just tasks
- Autonomous and judgement-based
This role is NOT:
- A purely strategic or advisory role
- A task-only SEO executor position
- A junior or heavily managed role
If you prefer to work purely behind the scenes without client interaction, this role won’t be a fit.
About You
You’re likely someone who:
- Has 5+ years experience in SEO, ideally agency-side
- Has previously owned client relationships
- Is confident explaining SEO trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
- Is curious about how search is evolving (including AI-driven search and GEO) and comfortable adapting SEO approaches over time
- Is comfortable working fractionally and managing your own time
- Enjoys responsibility more than being micromanaged
- Communicates clearly and proactively
You don’t need to be an expert in every SEO discipline, but you do need the confidence to lead delivery and ask the right questions.
What We Offer
- £300 per day, approx. 2.5 days per week
- Fully remote (UK-based candidates only, with availability to work during standard UK business hours)
- Long-term, stable client work
- Small, experienced team with low ego and high trust
- Opportunity to shape how delivery works as the agency grows
- Potential path to full-time for the right person
How to Apply
If this sounds like you, please email hello@mgx.digital with:
- A CV or LinkedIn profile
- A brief note on your current working setup (fractional / freelance / perm)
- A short paragraph on why this role appeals to you
- Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a small, paid audit exercise.
